important winter information

Having the right documents

For all of our resorts, British citizens will just need a valid UK Passport. (If you do not have one, allow at least two months to obtain it. At this point it would be wise to check your passport expiry date.) We strongly advise all other nationalities to check current visa requirements for the resort destination and the countries we will be travelling through immediately at the time of booking, as there can be delays in issuing visas. We are happy to send you a letter confirming your holiday reservation to support your visa application after payment of your full holiday cost.
(Please note we fly into Munich, Germany for our Austrian resorts and all our coach journeys travel through France to reach Switzerland and Austria.)
As all our trips cross international borders please ensure that our records of your name match your passport.

Making sure you have Insurance

As we travel and enjoy the slopes together it is only wise to have the peace of mind of good insurance. For this reason, we require everyone travelling with us to have travel insurance including full wintersports cover. We can provide the very best in insurance cover for you through Global Travel Insurance. Please note our insurance is open to you if you are resident in the UK or ROI at the time of booking and are travelling directly from, and returning to, the UK to join our holiday.

Our adult premium for comprehensive winter sports cover i.e. skiing and snowboarding on and off-piste (except within areas designated as unsafe by resort management) is just £35 for up to 10 days or £42 for up to 17 days. Child rates at a 50% discount apply for those 16 years and under.

Details and costs of Oak Hall insurance cover will be sent with your booking confirmation.

You can also find out more about the insurance we offer by clicking here. To view the policy itself, click here.

If you or your travelling companion(s) have any pre-existing medical conditions then you should ensure medical advice is sought before travel is undertaken. Otherwise, you are welcome to arrange your own cover and inform us of the details along with the payment of the balance of your holiday costs.

European Health Insurance Card

When travelling in Europe, make sure you've got a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well as travel insurance.  An EHIC is free, and it could save you a lot of money - hassle - if you need medical help while you are away.  The EHIC is the replacement for the E111 form which has stopped being issued.  To apply for an EHIC or for more information look online at  www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or call 0845 606 2030.

Making sure that you have the most economical lift pass

Lift passes come in a bewildering variety, depending on age, duration, time of the season, your chosen resort and snow conditions. We will advise you about the most suitable and economical options about 10 weeks before departure. We ask you to send us the full ski pass payment at this point.

Enjoying your holiday

We aim for each holiday to be a minimum of 25 people. The number of those travelling on your chosen holiday often depends on the size and availability of our accommodation; this will vary from 25 up to 125 people. Mixed accommodation is only available for married couples or families and we ask you to reserve these with the appropriate supplements at the time of booking. It is our policy to ask that families with children under 16 years share a room together.

We provide 3 meals a day after arrival in our resorts with a continental breakfast and a hot evening meal in the hotel restaurant or chalet dining room. Each morning we supply provisions so that you can make a packed lunch to take to the slopes.

Please note that at our Swiss chalets our team will welcome your help with serving and washing up after meals for one day during your time away. Please be aware that for many of our mountain centres, it is necessary to bring a towel and sleeping bag or sheets.

We do our very best to ensure everything is in place for you to have an enjoyable, well earned holiday and we work very hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you find a problem at the resort, please advise our resort team immediately so the matter can be dealt with promptly. In the unlikely event that the difficulty cannot be resolved, please write to us within 14 days of your return, giving all relevant details.

Choosing the ideal way to reach the mountains

Advanced Oak Hall Neoplan Coaches

Our luxurious Neoplan coaches will take you smoothly overnight to the Alps. Our latest coaches are even longer than before, yet with only the same number of seats upstairs. This gives a greatly increased amount of legroom. They have powerful Mercedes engines, air suspension, reclining seats, seatbelts, toilet and washroom. Tea and coffee are served free of charge on board. Please note that smoking is not permitted on our coaches, and we are unable to carry alcohol in our coaches or baggage trailers.

All our coach holidays begin at Folkestone in Kent. In addition we offer a transfer service from London Victoria Coach Station or Vestry Road in Otford to Folkestone, at a cost of £12 return.

By top quality Scheduled Airlines

We fly with top class scheduled carriers from London Heathrow or London Gatwick, with the basic holiday cost including the return coach transfer from Geneva, Zurich or Munich airport to the door of our accommodation.

Please note that the flight times given in our various literature are local times and correct at the time of printing. Air flights are occasionally subject to delay due to weather or subject to final adjustment by the airline. We also detail the approximate Government tax and airport charges separately, which are payable with your final payment and are always subject to change. The exact charge will be sent to you about ten weeks before your holiday departs.

Check-In at the Airport

Flight details will be sent to you when you make your booking. On the day of departure make your way to the check-in desks of airline you're flying with at the meet time advised. The meet time is normally 2hours before the departure time. On busy weeks, we may ask you to arrive 3hours before the flight departure time to ensure the smooth check-in and boarding of the whole group. Our team member will be there to greet you and give you your tickets to check-in.

The convenience of flying from your local Airport - trip codes: LX, FX, TX, JX, SX, VX & ZX

We also invite you to book your own flights from a departure airport of your choice to meet us at a specified European airport ready to meet our team and transfer to our resort. Our transfer coach will be waiting at the airport to take you directly to our resort and begin your holiday in the Alps. Please note the TX option to Schladming-Haus is to meet directly at the resort in Haus and does not include any airport transfer coach.

Please ensure that you only book flights after you have a confirmed place on the Oak Hall trip and that your chosen flights are scheduled to arrive in good time, ideally 2 hours, ahead of our planned transfer coach departure. In the event of a delay you can make your own way to the resort by rail.
