Imagine studying the Bible in the mountains
The Oak Hall Mountain Bible School is an opportunity for us to break out of the bustle of everyday life for a week’s intensive study of the Bible, against the glorious backdrop of the mountains. Our greatest need in life is to know God. God is not silent and hiding: he speaks to us every day through the Bible, through his people and through the magnificence of his creation. Yet we may find it hard to hear him, because every day a thousand other voices shout at us for our attention and our time. We get away into the mountains for our refreshing breaks.
Exciting books of the Bible for us to explore together
This year, we will be running two Mountain Bible Schools. The first will be in the Black Forest and we will be studying the book of Genesis with Andy Jack (DA10). The second will be in Churfirsten, Switzerland where Andy Robinson will introduce us to the Old Testament Wisdom Literature: Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs (DA12, DC12). We will take time to open and examine these books of the Bible in more depth and detail than we would have time for in our normal lives.
Experienced and gifted Bible teachers
Both men are regular speakers with Oak Hall and their teaching is consistently engaging, accessible, practical and stretching. Each morning and evening there will be extended sessions of digging deep into God’s Word and learning from Him. It will be a time that will be accessible to the youngest Christian, yet also challenging and rewarding for the most mature.
Rich days of refreshment, study and exploration
In the afternoons we will have time to walk in the mountains, talking about what we have learnt, letting it sink into our souls and being awed by the majesty of God’s creation. Built into the morning and evening will be time to praise God and discuss how the truths we are learning shape our minds, our hearts and our lifestyles.
The sunshine of the Black Forest
DA10: New for this year, we are pleased to be able to offer accommodation in the beauty of the Black Forest. We will be staying at the Lindenhof, which was built as a large, traditional Black Forest farmhouse. It has been modernised and has many different sized rooms. At 3,000 feet this centre is superbly located and contains a small indoor swimming pool to enjoy. We are provided with food prepared German style by the resident chef.
Our optional excursion package will include a range of activities, such as visiting the Aqua Park at Schluchsee. At Freiburg there are attractively restored historic buildings and a maze of pedestrian precincts crowded with every kind of shop. The area is also ideal for walking with lakes, waterfalls, and marked tracks taking you to breaktaking panoramic views.
Churfirstenblick on a sunny terrace above Lake Wallen
DA12, DC12: We travel by luxury coach or flight to our centre at Flumserberg, perched halfway up a mountain on a sunny terrace overlooking Lake Wallen. Rooms are for two (options for three or four are also available). Marked walking paths are available just outside our centre and our optional excursion package will take us to explore the local lakes, towns and mountains, as well as including an exciting three-country tour.
Join us this summer and return home refreshed by the grandeur of God revealed both through the Bible and the majesty of the mountains.
