This summer with Oak Hall we dream in the sunshine of the Côte Fleurie - a beautiful stretch of coastline with wide sandy beaches. The seaside towns and villages are lavishly decorated, with abundant flowers on the promenades and buildings. It is just ideal for those who do not want to travel too far and are longing for a refreshing time by the sea.

Wide sandy beaches for relaxation and swimming

Our campsite is just 300 metres from a wide, sandy beach, which is ideal for relaxation and swimming.

The small seaside resort of Merville-Franceville has a range of economical cafés, seafood restaurants and local shops. The cafés serve mouth-watering crêpes with a large variety of delicious fillings.

Every Saturday night there is a free concert at the bandstand on the promenade. In the Avenue de Paris experience the stalls at the Thursday market and search for bargains.

Elegant French seaside resorts

Our optional excursion package takes us along the coast to Houlgate, a picturesque seaside town that has hardly changed since Victorian times. At Deauville you will find an elegant promenade in this large, bustling seaside town with a very French flavour. Deauville merges into Trouville-sur-Mer, which has a superb sandy beach. Moving up the coast you reach Honfleur, where you can wander through the beautiful Old Town. Right along the coast there are many attractions, cafés, restaurants and stalls of seafood fresh from the fishing boats docked in the harbours.

Medieval towns, châteaux and the famous Bayeux tapestry

A pleasant ride along the coastline of Côte de Nacre brings us to the seaside town of Arromanches. After coffee and cream-covered crêpes, the rolling countryside awaits us as we enter Bayeux with its magnificent cathedral. This is the home of the perfectly preserved tapestry of the 1066 invasion of England.

Standing by the river Orne, the city of Caen is a busy contrast to Bayeux. It has half-timbered buildings and modern shops in the pedestrian precincts. The imposing château was begun in 1060 by William the Conqueror.

The famous Abbey Mont-St-Michel

The eighth-century Abbey Mont-St-Michel stands on an island in the sea with a two-kilometre causeway as the only means of access. It has a fascinating mix of medieval buildings, which seem to be built one on top of the other and offer a wonderful jumble to explore. A climb to the top of the abbey provides a spectacular view across the bay and out to sea.

The sea level can rise by 49 feet between tides and the sea comes rushing across the sands watched from the north tower by hundreds of spectators. This will be a unique day travelling back a thousand years in time.
