Hundreds have discovered the delight of cycling along quiet tracks and roads in beautiful scenery on our cycling expeditions. We return home healthy and fit, having had an exciting time exploring carefully selected routes.
A range of routes and cycle groups
We will follow a range of carefully selected routes, which gradually increase in length. Everyone will explore the same routes, but split into different groups depending on the type of cycling you are looking for. The ‘coffee and cakes’ group take everything at a relaxed pace, admiring the scenery, while the fastest group enjoy the chance to prove their fitness! With other groups in between as well, this cycling expedition will be ideal for everyone looking for an active and refreshing break.
A campsite by the beautiful city of Avignon
The jewel of Provence is the fortified city of Avignon on the banks of the River Rhône, with its castle, Popes’ Palace, and hillside gardens. We stay on a campsite that is within sight of the famous bridge (‘pont d’Avignon’). From this base we can cruise through the outstanding scenic beauty of Provence at the leisurely pace of cycling. As we head out from the city of Avignon, we see the natural beauty of Provence as vineyards and rivers pass us by..
…intriguing towns, stunning views…
Orange, for example, is a historic town containing an ancient Roman theatre where world-famous concerts are held. This is an excellent centre to explore by bike – through parks with great vantage points over the area and pretty back streets, which you can only enjoy on bike or by foot.
At Les Baux de Provence, those who enjoy a challenge can climb up to the fortified village for amazing views. Others can choose to relax in the attractive cafés of St. Rémy.
…and so much more!
Quaint and picturesque towns offer the opportunity to cool off with an ice cream under the shaded water fountain, or a dip in the local river. Pont du Gard offers canoeing in the safe, shallow water, or alternatively you can swim, or sit and relax in this outstandingly beautiful area. There is so much to discover!
An excellent end to the day
On all our expeditions, after a day’s cycling we return to our campsite for an energising meal, as well as a Bible talk that is always a highlight. We can then relax over a cup of hot chocolate and share stories of the day’s cycling or take part in games and activities. |
