Lapped by warm seas and bathed in warm Mediterranean sunshine, the island of Cyprus makes the ideal summer location. We have chosen the beautiful, unspoilt Turkish part of this island. Having an excellent climate, we will want to enjoy the beaches to the full.
A warm Turkish Cypriot welcome
The hotel is located by the Besparmak mountains in a wonderfully relaxed location away from the busyness of the cities. The hospitality we will enjoy characterises the warm, welcoming Turkish Cypriot people. Old-fashioned courtesies are a way of life and visitors are very safe in this beautiful country. Our three-star hotel has en-suite rooms for two, on the outskirts of Vasileia-Karsiyaka village, in the beautiful region of Kyrenia. Its long, private beach is ideal for relaxation and swimming in the crystal clear water. It also has a large outdoor pool.
In the evenings we enjoy a helpful Bible talk together.
Exploration and discovery
Our optional package of excursions takes us to villages, abbeys, ancient towns and mountain top castles. We will also discover the fascinating wildlife unique to Cyprus. Nesting turtles and their hatchlings can sometimes be seen on the beaches during the moonlit summer nights. We may also hear the rural sounds of clanging goat bells and the calling of the wild birds.
Ancient forts, and excellent restaurants
Being such an attractive place to live, Cyprus has had many different rulers over the centuries. A huge military fort, constructed by the rulers from Venice, dominates the port town of Girne. It now houses the fascinating Shipwreck Museum, and the inner courtyard is often used for evening concerts. The picturesque old harbour is lined by excellent restaurants, which serve superb food at a very reasonable price.
A rabbit-warren of streets in Lefkosa
The capital city of Cyprus, Lefkosa, also known as Nicosia, is divided between the Greeks and Turks. As a backdrop, it has the spectacular Troodos Mountain range, characterised by shady cedar and pine forests. Lefkosa has a rabbit warren of streets, which take you into the heart of this old-world capital. It has a covered market selling a rich variety of handicrafts and traditional delicacies – the fresh, delicious Helva and Turkish Delight are particularly recommended.
Cruising along the coastline
As part of our optional excursion package we also charter a boat for a day, which gently cruises along the attractive coastline and stops for us to swim in the clear, warm water. A tasty fish meal, cooked on board, is a real treat.
A royal city with ancient fortifications
Gazimaguasa was founded in 275 BC. The old town lies within its walls and is a most intriguing district to explore. We will be visiting a mountain castle, which provides superb views. Quaint villages, which seem to have been almost untouched by time, provide cafés where we can sit and watch the world go by during the lazy summer days. Water sports await the adventurous, and there are plenty of interesting walking tracks to explore.
Come and join us in this dream location – right by the beach with interesting places to explore. |
