Oak Hall’s visits to Israel and Palestine are renowned as the very best. Our years of experience enable us to take you to places of Biblical importance and allow you to enjoy the excitement of this vibrant country to the full.
Ancient city of Jerusalem
This ancient city contains so much to see. The bazaars within the city walls are crammed with merchants selling every conceivable type of goods. A miniature reconstruction of the ancient city of Jerusalem will help to give us our bearings. In the peaceful Garden Tomb we consider the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Exploring the ancient past
Our separate excursion package includes a wide range of visits and entrance fees. In Jerusalem, it includes key sites such as the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Western Wailing Wall. Wading through the water tunnel built by King Hezekiah is also a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
Bethlehem - where Jesus was born
In Bethlehem, we read the amazing story of all that happened in this significant place. At the House of Hope, we plan to spend time with the local Christians, who are caring for the children that live here.
The surprises of the Judean Desert
We walk in the Judean Desert, full of surprises, with desert flowers and the sudden springs gushing from the sides of ravines giving life to the soil. At the Wadi Kelt we look out over the wild countryside where the Lord Jesus Christ faced temptations. In Jericho the remains of this ancient city have been uncovered. We also visit Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden in caves for 1900 years. Their discovery has provided remarkable proof of the authenticity of the Bible.
The Dead Sea and the beautiful En Gedi oasis
We will also have the chance to float in the Dead Sea at 1,200 feet below sea level, basking in the desert sunshine. At Masada we visit the ancient Judean fortress. The cable car takes us up to the heights where the defenders fought against the Romans after the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70. En Gedi is an oasis where King Solomon had his vineyards. We can see ibex and hyrax as we make our way to the dramatic King David’s Waterfall.
Blue Galilee and Mount Hermon
We follow the Jordan Valley, stopping to swim in a warm volcanic pool. A voyage across the Sea of Galilee evokes stories from the Bible, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of this region. At Dan the gushing springs in the foothills of Mount Hermon become the vital waters of the River Jordan. We also see Caesarea Philippi where Peter declared that Jesus was the Christ.
Capernaum by Lake Galilee
Capernaum is the location of the little fishing town where Jesus stayed with Peter. In the hills above the lake we sit and listen to the words of Jesus ringing true today. Nazareth is still busy, as no doubt it was during Jesus’ childhood. At Megiddo we will explore the fortress city of the Kings of Israel, guarding the plain of Armageddon.
We return having visited a beautiful land and travelled back to Bible times in an exciting, informative and fulfilling journey. |
