An island between Sicily and North Africa

Malta is a beautiful island below Sicily, far away from the pollution of major cities. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with many hours of sunshine in the summer months. This makes it ideal for enjoying snorkelling, which is one of the most popular activities in Malta.

One event in the history of Malta that is of particular interest is the shipwreck of the apostle Paul. Running aground at ‘a bay with a sandy beach’ Paul found that ‘the islanders showed us unusual kindness’.

The Island of Gozo and the Azure Window

As part of our optional excursion package, we will take a ferry crossing to Malta’s sister island of Gozo. In Victoria there is a picturesque market square and, inland, the famous Calypso’s Cave. From here the views of the reddish-gold beach below are stunning. Also on Gozo we visit the ‘Azure Window’, a remarkable archway that has been naturally carved in the rock.

Valletta - built by Medieval Knights

The Knights of St John built the intriguing fortified city of Valletta in the sixteenth
century. There is the famous Grand Harbour with the Grand Master’s Palace and the beautiful Cathedral, together with many fascinating treasures on display in its museums. The teeming thoroughfares provide great shopping opportunities.

Fishing villages and the picturesque Blue Grotto

There are numerous typical Maltese villages to visit including the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, where the bay is packed with brightly-coloured fishing boats, as well as offering a market to explore.

Paradise Beach lives up to its name, providing clear blue water in which to swim and a beautiful sandy beach on which to relax.

Relaxing with plenty to do

Our three-star hotel is located in a peaceful part of Qawra, a seaside town on the peninsula of St Paul’s bay, just a short walk from the shops and cafés at Bugibba. It offers air-conditioned, en-suite rooms for two (larger rooms on request) and a rooftop pool with beautiful views at sunset. The area of Qawra and Bugibba offers a wide range of activities including snorkelling and many watersports.

Leave the British weather behind and come with us to this beautiful island in the Mediterranean.
