A warm Icelandic welcome

Explore the spectacular landscape in this unique country. Our coach meets us at the airport to take us across lunar-like lava fields to the Blue Lagoon, where you may choose to experience a dip in the thermal pools.

We stay in one of the most interesting parts of Iceland, on the south-west side. Accommodated in a centre that is hosted by a Christian team, we always receive a warm welcome. Breakfast, packed lunch and a hot evening meal are all included.

Colourful valleys at Landmannalaugar

Our coach takes us on an optional package of five excursions, as detailed below, to experience the breathtaking scenery unique to Iceland.

The unique Landmannalaugar area is arguably the most colourful place in Iceland. We have the opportunity to relax in a natural hot pool before taking a walk into the green, orange and pink-coloured valleys that surround the contrasting frozen black lava fields. En-route we view the mighty Hekla Volcano.

Iceland’s famous hot geyser and the golden falls

No trip to Iceland would be complete without a visit to the site of its famous geyser, Strokkur, which emits fountains of hot water, up to 20 metres in height. We move on to view Gullfoss, the finest of Iceland’s many waterfalls. Nicknamed “the golden falls” because of the rainbows that appear when the sun shines, the falls provide a spectacular sight amidst the barren Thjorsa Valley.

The vibrant capital city of Reykjavik

We will spend a day exploring the capital city of Reykjavik, built on the shores of the Faxa Bay. There are stunning views over the city and beyond to Mount Esja. The local shops are great to browse around and it is worth taking a walk along the quayside. There is also the option of whale watching to see these amazing animals in their natural habitat.

Waterfalls and lava fields of the south coast

Glaciers, waterfalls and lava fields are all features of the varied landscape of South Iceland. We travel to Skogar to gaze upon a picturesque and unforgettable waterfall as it cascades over 60m of sheer cliffs. Just outside Vik there is an impressive arch that has been cut into the rock by the sea and is now large enough for boats to pass through. It is also sometimes possible to see puffins here.

The fabulous Westmann Islands

We head out by boat to the beautiful Westmann Islands, with their steep cliffs that are home to a large bird population. The islands were previously home to Keiko the whale, star of the film ‘Free Willy’. Here you gain a real sense of rural Icelandic life and the amazing history of this country. There is the option of a coach and boat tour of the islands once we arrive.

In addition to the excursion package, there are other exciting options available including horse riding and a jeep safari around the Myrdalsjokull glacier. At the end of each day we meet together to hear a helpful Bible talk.
