Launch off to somewhere special this summer
Join us this summer as the Oak Hall adventure continues. Meet many new friends and share an exciting Expedition together. We are a Christian team who get the very best out of life and our expeditions are packed with fun plus serious interest. We know that you will find the evening Bible talks especially helpful.
Keeping the cost low
We endeavour to keep the Expeditions at a low cost. This is made possible because we work as a team together with you and there is very careful budgeting. In addition, many team members give freely of their time to make the Expeditions a success. You will find Oak Hall remarkable value for money.
Exploring the sights together
For most of the Expeditions, we arrange an optional package of carefully chosen excursions, which take you at an economical cost to many of the places of local interest. Details of the package will be sent to you, along with more detailed information on your chosen Expedition.
Camping - enjoying the fresh air
These are the number one choice for our Expeditions. Continental campsites are well equipped, with hot showers, and most have a shop or restaurant. The tents we use generally accommodate three people. Married couples have a tent for two at no additional cost. All you need to bring is an airbed, sleeping bag, crockery and cutlery. Our meals are prepared in a central cook tent, served for us to enjoy sitting around the marquee or in the fresh air - camp style with no tables. Each morning, you have the opportunity to make a packed lunch. With the system of centralised cooking which we operate, we cannot provide special diets and can only offer a very limited vegetarian option. Once or twice during the Expedition you will have the opportunity to assist our caterer for a short while after the meal. This is all part of the fun of a camping expedition. With the sun and fresh air, camping is ideal.
Mountain centres - in excellent locations
Run by our own team, these are remarkably good value. Clean and simple, there is a variety of rooms and dormitories. You just need to bring a sleeping bag with you. They are situated in ideal positions for access to the mountains and countryside. The catering arrangements are as with the camping accommodation.
Good hotels all over the planet
We carefully select good hotels where we are welcomed back year after year. As the brochure is printed a year in advance, the hotel, and even the resort, may change. Good, tasty meals are provided for us in the hotel restaurant. Swimming pools and other facilities may not always be open due to maintenance or seasonal closure.
Meeting others and sharing together
Whether staying in a tent, mountain centre or hotel there is the opportunity to share with others. If you are coming with friends or family, please indicate this at the time of booking and you will be accommodated with them wherever possible. Mixed accommodation is only available for married couples or families. Many come on their own. We find that with such friendly groups, by the time you arrive at the destination, you will have found others with whom you would like to share.
The world’s most advanced coaches
We have our own Neoplan coaches, which are among the world’s most advanced, with full climate controlled air conditioning, reclining seats, and washroom. They are kept in excellent condition to provide you with a comfortable ride to your destination. Please note that smoking is not permitted on our coaches and we are unable to carry alcohol on our coaches or in our baggage trailers.
Convenient starting points including London
The overland Expeditions commence at Folkestone in Kent. From here, we travel with Eurotunnel to Calais in France. Pick up points are available at London Victoria Coach Station (except for the Europe tour) and Otford, Kent at a cost of £12 return. From just £17, you can also enjoy an overnight stay at our Manor House in Otford.
Scheduled flights with the best international airlines
We fly with the very best airlines and never use charters. Departures are from the London airports. Exact timings will be sent to you nearer the date of your departure. Dates are correct at the time of going to print. Occasionally re-scheduling is made by the Airlines and you may need to be flexible by a day or two. As with any travel, there may be delays. Just join in and be positive and supportive if this happens on your Expedition! We use return tickets and if you do not travel out with the group, the airline will usually automatically cancel the inbound flight.
Occasionally we may book flights on an individual, rather than group basis. The cost may vary near to the date and a flight supplement might apply. We will always check if you are happy to pay any increase before confirming your place and processing your payment. You will find the current airport taxes and charges for flight expeditions on the applicable page. We have given only an approximation and we will confirm the amount before your final balance payment is due
Please note that if you wish to arrange your own flights for a particular expedition, you should contact us to discuss this. It is often an option for you to meet the group at the airport and join our transfer coach. If you are not able to meet the transfer coach you would need to make your own way to the resort.
It is simple and easy to book your Expedition
A small deposit of £50 is payable online or by cheque. We ask you to accept that the deposit is non-returnable. If you book within two months of the date of departure, we ask you to pay the full holiday cost. Please ensure that you have travel insurance cover from this time. Do book as soon as possible, particularly with flights. We hold a limited allocation of seats on the flights and the airline takes back any unused seats around two months before departure. There may be an airline supplement to pay after this date.
We will help you with the changing of your Expedition
We know that sometimes your plans may change. If you want to change any of the details of your booking to an alternative Summer 2009 Expedition, or to another person, more than two months before departure, we will do our best to help you. Please note that in the case of a name substitution, the deposit is non-transferable and is therefore payable by your nominee.
Our service to you is the very best
We do our utmost to ensure everything is in place for you to have an enjoyable, well-earned time with us, and work hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. However, we only invite those who are flexible and able to cope with changes and with other cultures. If you find you have a problem during the holiday, please advise our resort team immediately so the matter can be resolved on the spot. With your help and support we will do our best. In the unlikely event that the difficulty cannot be resolved, please write to us within 14 days of your return, giving your booking reference number and all relevant details.
Everthing is secure
All your payments are kept in a Trust Account until after your holiday is completed. This provides your security for protection against the unlikely event of insolvency and ensures a full refund and repatriation. Additionally our ATOL Licence Number 3207 held with the Civil Aviation Authority in the name of Oak Hall Expeditions Ltd covers our Expeditions by air. Usually your group will be a minimum of 20 persons. We will notify you two months in advance in the unlikely event of a holiday cancellation.
Our prices are calculated to include the current arrangements and rates for VAT. Should there be changes they will affect the price. We will absorb any changes in currency exchange rates up to 2% deviation from the rate on 1 October 2008.
Making sure all goes smoothly - Hassle-free Travel Insurance
We believe your protection is very important and we therefore require that everyone travelling with us take out travel insurance cover, either through the company recommended by Oak Hall (Rock Insurance) or through an alternative company. Click on the 'Insurance' link at the top of our website to book cover with Rock Insurance (or call 0844 482 0660 and explain you are travelling with Oak Hall if you are not able to book the cover online).
Keeping you updated with helpful information
Your confirmation of booking will be sent out to you straight away, along with further information about your Expedition. We ask you to pay the balance due to us two months before departure. Unpaid places are automatically cancelled at this point and released to those on the waiting list.
Please write to let us know if you are unable to travel. After the two month payment deadline, the full cost is nonreturnable. However, you may be able to make a claim through your travel insurance company if the reason for cancellation falls within the terms of the policy.
Having the right travel documents
British Citizens will need a full 10-year passport. Allow at least two months to obtain or renew one. You will not require any visas for travel in Western Europe. Details of any visas required for other countries will be sent to you.
If you are not a British Citizen you will need to contact the consulates of the countries we will be travelling through to check the current visa and entry requirements.
Teamwork together with laughter and unexpected events
Oak Hall Expeditions are for those who want to enjoy a lively and adventurous time. If you are a positive and optimistic person, we know that you will thoroughly enjoy travelling with us. Everybody joins in to support the leadership team and to contribute to the success our time together. There will be fun and laughter and unexpected events, with changes that will add to the adventure of an overseas expedition and make each trip unique. These are not for those who cannot allow for occasional changes and delays.
Have an interest packed summer and be part of a team
Planned with the 20s and 30s in mind, we invite those who have a relaxed and cheerful character to come with us and have a marvellous time. These are definitely not boring package holidays; there are plenty of those available elsewhere! The lower age limit is 18 years unless travelling with a family, or guardian over the age of 18 years. The Expeditions are not suitable for children under 7 years. If you have a pre-existing medical condition e.g. epilepsy or some form of disability, please include a note with your reservation so that, if necessary, we can let you know about the facilities at this and other resorts.
Let friends know about Oak Hall
Most come through personal recommendations. We will always sent you more brochures for your friends. Oak Hall is extremely popular and some dates are filled within a few weeks of the brochure being printed. Reserve on line at www.oakhall.co.uk. Alternatively, you can post us your reservation form together with your deposit, and we will be pleased to make the reservation for you. Extra forms may be photocopied or printed from our website.
Book as soon as possible
Do apply as soon as possible to ensure you do not miss out on a place with us. We will carefully keep in touch with you from our Manor House here in the hills of Kent. You are always welcome to come to see us. It is a beautiful place and is home for us as a team. We will be looking forward to welcoming you.
There is plenty ahead for all of us at Oak Hall
