THE RENOWNED SAAS SKI REGION
The resorts of Saas Grund and Saas Fee combine to offer excellent skiing and snowboarding including the second highest pisted areas in Switzerland. There are eight surrounding mountain peaks all higher than 13,124 feet, with the Fee Glacier hosting year-round snowsports and giving one of the most dramatic glacial backdrops in the Alps.
EXHILARATING ACTION FOR EVERYONE
High in the Valais region of Switzerland, this outstanding snowsports area is just waiting to be enjoyed by all abilities. The nursery slopes in Saas Fee offer the perfect place for beginners to build up initial confidence before setting their sights on the wide variety of pistes available. For intermediate skiers and riders there is a great range of pistes to choose from, with wide-open slopes from the top station all the way down into Saas Fee 5,000 feet below. The experienced will enjoy the exciting selection of mogul runs, marked off-piste routes and the steep descents from Felskinn or Längfluh.
SPECTACULAR GLACIERS - ON TOP OF THE WORLD WITH THE SAAS PASS
There are a total of 45 cable cars, lifts and tows spread across the mountains surrounding Saas Grund and Saas Fee. The majestic Hohsaas Glacier, at 10,171 feet, is above the village of Saas Grund, whilst the impressive Alpin Express and Metro Alpin above Saas Fee provide quick access to the Glacier with spectacular panoramic views.
LOVE THE WIDE OPEN PISTES AND POWDER
Skiers and riders alike will love the wide-open pistes of Spielboden or the powder as you descend from the Plattjen gondola. Take the metro and stay on top of the world as you ski and snowboard on the year-round pistes or face the ultimate challenge of Piste Surprise! We recommend taking the full area Saas Pass covering local bus transfers in the whole Saas Valley, including the main Saas Fee area. The three areas included - Fee, Grund and Almagell - ensure a vast array of skiing and snowboarding to suit varied weather conditions.
SNOWBOARDING IN THE SAAS FUN PARK
The Saas area provides exceptional terrain and a well-respected fun park with jumps and boarder-cross to enjoy. Oak Hall snowboarding equipment will be available to hire and instruction will be available.
SAAS GRUND - A PICTURESQUE SWISS VILLAGE
We stay in Saas Grund, high in the mountains at 5,124 feet with its characteristic Swiss-style pine houses so often covered with fresh snow. The magnificent mountain peaks tower above the village, welcoming us to this traditional Swiss scene. A wealth of cafés, shops and sporting facilities make this one of Switzerland’s premier Alpine resorts.
CHALET FLORIDA - AN IDEAL BASE FROM WHICH TO ENJOY THIS VAST WINTER SPORTS AREA
Our popular "Chalet Florida" allows easy access to the Saas Grund gondola base station, which takes us to the Hohsaas Glacier at 10,171 feet. An excellent local bus system takes you to the foot of the extensive Saas Fee area in just 10 minutes.
This excellent chalet provides the ideal combination of simple but comfortable accommodation and offers rooms for three to five persons, as well as a wide variety of single and twin rooms (per person supplements detailed in side panel).
THE ADDICTIVE SPORT OF TUBING
Tubing is one of our exhilarating evening activities. A special snow-tube lift takes us to the illuminated tube run where we climb onto rubber rings and are propelled down a 656 feet slope. Beware, snow-tubing is addictive! Those going on the first or last trip of the season may not be able to do this activity.
FULL AND ACTIVE EVENINGS
Music and helpful Bible study talks are the key to inspiring evenings and our team always organise additional events to ensure that our evenings will be action-packed and fun-filled. Games, tournaments and even a chocolate fondue event are great favourites at our chalet. You will also want to step out and enjoy the village with all its activities - sample a traditional Swiss cheese fondue, go curling, catch an ice-hockey match or simply relax in one of the many cafés with their traditional pastries.
THE WORLD’S HIGHEST REVOLVING RESTAURANT
We will be able to head high above the town of Saas Fee to the world’s highest revolving restaurant at Mittelallalin standing at 11,483 feet. From this vantage point, marvel at the panoramic views which stretch out across the Alps in all directions. Whether you ski, snowboard, snowblade or just look, the experience will literally take your breath away.
At Chalet Florida, the costs include return travel (except for codes beginning with FX), alpine centre accommodation and bed linen, along with breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal after arrival plus free teas, coffees and hot chocolates.
