We invite you to enjoy a Winter Wonderland holiday in the magnificent Alps in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. Come and join us in the high valleys beneath magnificent, snow-crowned mountains. With waterfalls, Alpine villages and singing streams, the Alps in the Spring are a beautiful haven from the bustle of home.

This is an opportunity for those who prefer a more relaxed approach to their holiday to come and share the beauty of the Alps. Whether you want to walk, sightsee, experience local cuisine, or just relax with a hot chocolate, you will be glad to have come to experince a a vibrant Alpine Spring time.

The Valley of 72 waterfalls

Lauterbrunnen (said to mean ‘many waters’) is home to 72 waterfalls. As spring comes to the valley, new waterfalls can be seen each day as the frozen streams above melt in the spring sunshine. The famous Staubbach falls can be seen from our hotel. These are some of the largest single drop waterfalls in Europe.

The Jungfrau region is home to both the highest railway station in Europe (the Top of Europe) and the revolving restaurant on the Schilthorn. The Top of Europe is accessed by train from Lauterbrunnen train station via Kleine Scheidegg. This area is part of a UNESCO site of world heritage. You can also post a letter from the highest post office in Europe.

The Schilthorn was the location for filming Bond’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” and is accessed by cable car from the valley. With a wonderful panorama of the area you can also watch as skiers start their descent on the steep slopes of the famous Inferno Race.

Hiking and Sledging

The whole area provides marked footpaths. While in April there are spring flowers in the meadow, there is still plenty of snow at higher altitudes. Experience a snowy, yet warm, walk along one of the trails, or the excitement of riding a sledge from the train station at Kleine Scheidegg down to the village of Wengen. There are also walking trails to Grindelwald, offering stunning views of the north face of the Eiger on the way.

The “Hiking Passes” give access by train to most of the mountain, allowing you to discover the delights of Grindelwald or to stop at Brandegg to enjoy traditional Swiss apple fritters.

The famous town of Interlaken

Interlaken is worth a visit during your stay up the valley. Situated between two lakes, it is home to chocolate makers, jewellers and souvenir shops. You could even hire an electric bike to tour the surrounding area or take a steam boat on a lake – yet more ways to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Renowned Oak Hall Hospitality

In Hotel Staubbach run by our own Oak Hall team, we have the ideal place for you! The hotel offers a warm, friendly venue for our evening Bible talks and activities or places to sip hot chocolate and chat about our day together.
