Mountains and shimmering lakes

Stay with us in a peaceful location in the heart of the Norwegian countryside. Our modern centre is situated right by the beautiful Skanevik fjord. Well away from the busyness of town and city life, the location is in harmony with nature. Our centre has beautiful views as the sunshine reflects off the water on the fjord and the mountain peaks dominate the skyline. The air is fresher and the scenery more spectacular than you could imagine.

We fly in to Stavanger and back from Bergen, allowing us to explore these two locations in addition to the optional excursion package.

Our accommodation is owned by Christians and is ideal for us. We will eat well, with three Scandinavian meals a day provided for us by the Norwegian cooks. Following the evening meal, we meet together for a helpful Bible talk.

A wide range of activities

The location of our accommodation in the heart of the countryside makes it ideal for those wanting to explore the great outdoors. From the private fjord jetty we have free use of two-man canoes. The water is clear and ideal for swimming. A local walk takes you to an ancient fort, with stunning views and a beautiful lake.

One of the particular advantages of our accommodation is the sports hall with football, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as table tennis and a trampoline. Or you may prefer just to relax with a book on the leather sofas in the comfortable lounge.

"Thank you for a brilliant holiday, the itinerary was well planned and the centre was perfect."

Mighty waterfalls and glaciers

We have an excellent optional package of three excursions. The first of these takes us to Skanevik, where we cross the fjord by ferry to Utaker. At Folgefonna, we walk to a beautiful lake with views of the glacier.

Nine of the twenty highest waterfalls in the world are in Norway and the Latefossen are two of the finest. Steep waterfalls crash down as cascading veils of water and spray, providing long-lasting memories of this beautiful country.

Exploring the countryside

A second excursion will take us on a tour of the southern part of the area, giving us the chance to enjoy more of the attractive countryside and stopping off at a couple of interesting places along the way.

The small town of Skudeneshavn grew rapidly in the early 19th century based on the success of the herring trade. It is one of the best preserved towns in the country, with almost 130 of the original timber houses and seafront wharves existing today for us to see.

Åkrahamn offers an attractive, rural beach, which is ideal for swimming, games or just relaxing to enjoy the scenery.

An interactive Viking museum

Our third excursion takes us to the interesting town of Haugesund. As well as the modern shopping centres and traditional fish market there is also an optional visit to a Viking Farm and museum. This is an opportunity to explore the fact and fiction of the myths surrounding Norway’s past in an interactive way, plus you can even dress up as a Viking!

Interesting local activities

In addition to the optional excursion package, there are two other additional activities (payable locally). Firstly, there will be the chance to visit a Norwegian prayer house to hear about its history. Secondly, a short minibus ride takes us to Eikas, followed by a walk to Olensvag and a ride back to the centre.

Cruise along the fjords

On the first day, we fly into Stavanger. We will have time to explore the attractive Old Town above the harbour and excellent museums, before enjoying a scenic journey by coach and ferry, crossing the fjords to reach our accommodation.

On our last day we will travel to Bergen and enjoy exploring this interesting city. Here there is old-world charm with wooden houses and narrow alleyways. Visit the fish market, and enjoy fresh seafood. You can choose to take the funicular railway to the top of Mount Floyen, where the view of the city framed by the sea, fjord and mountain is one of the most spectacular in Norway. We then travel to the airport for our return journey to the UK.
