Cycling in the heart of Italy

Join us this summer to explore two beautiful regions of Italy by bike. Our hotel is located in the heart of Italy at Lake Trasimeno, just south of the border between Tuscany and Umbria, areas which are famous for their beautiful scenery and undulating hills.

Our hotel is away from the bustle of town and city life, in a relaxed setting just 300m from the lake and it also has its own swimming pool. There is an ice cream shop and café next to hotel, plus a pizzeria next to the lake.

A range of groups

Our cycling routes will take us along quiet roads and cycle paths to explore the culture and scenery of this beautiful area, passing through historic towns and villages. In order to allow everyone to enjoy the rides, there will be a range of groups. This will give the chance to ride at different speeds, or make shorter rides and return to the hotel to enjoy both the pool and lakeside swimming. Please note that due to the undulating nature of the area, you will need to have at least a reasonable level of fitness.

The rides will be led by local guides and Oak Hall team members. At the point of booking, you will have the option of city style bikes (with a more comfortable riding position) or mountain bikes. Both have 21 gears.

Lakes and waterfalls

Each of our rides will take us to a different destination, one of which will be the attractive town of Castiglione del Lago. Originally this was a fourth island on the lake but gradually over time, piazzas and houses were built to cover the gap with the mainland. Highlights of the town include the Fortress of the Lion and the Ducal Palace.

Each evening we will enjoy a time of singing and a helpful Bible talk.

The impressive Marmore waterfalls

Another destination will be the Marmore waterfalls, an impressive feature of the landscape. It was in fact created by the Romans following the construction of a canal, but it now sits harmoniously in its verdant surroundings and has inspired a number of poets.

Beautiful natural scenery

San Martino dei Colli is a medieval village that has retained its historic appearance remarkably well. It is perched on a hill surrounded by cypress trees, olive groves and vineyards and offers a picturesque setting for us to explore.

Join us this summer for a unique cycling break in stunning Umbria and Tuscany!
