A beautiful, unexplored country with gripping stories to tell

Serbia is a land of beauty and contrast. Spacious, broad plains dominate the north, while wild mountain ranges define the south. Great rivers such as the Danube and Sava carve through landscapes largely unexplored by those from other parts of Europe. Punctuating this spectacular scenery are magnificent castles and grand buildings - outposts of the ancient empires that once ruled these captivating lands.

Experience the warm hospitality of a welcoming people

This region is known for its warm and generous hospitality and rich culture. In the Balkans, a guest is an honoured and welcome person. We have seen deep relationships forged over these last fifteen years as some of the most stark and challenging years of this area’s recent history have unfolded.

And yet a land with a heart-breaking history

During the last decade, this area of the Balkans was devastated by civil war. Two hundred thousand people were killed and two and a half million became refugees. As this civil war raged, Oak Hall brought teams into the area with humanitarian aid and the message of God’s Love. Now, the war has long finished and yet huge needs remain.

While the attention of the world’s media has turned to other places, many people remain in refugee camps across the region. For these forgotten refugees, their plight continues to be critical.

Oak Hall Bible College - thirteen years of equipping the Balkan Church

In 1996, Oak Hall began a Bible College where students could receive a year’s training as they prepared to serve their own peoples. This work has grown dramatically in recent years and is now based in a centre on the edge of the capital city, Belgrade.

Over two hundred and fifty people have studied at the Bible College and are now involved in life-changing work across the region.

We are pleased to invite you to join us on a visit to Serbia where we can experience life in this country and have insight into the significant work that the graduates of the Bible College are doing. We will travel by coach and our tour will also take us to the countries of Bosnia and Croatia.

Bringing vital supplies and a life-transforming message

An important aspect of our visit will be to deliver humanitarian aid into the hands of those who are still in need. It will be a very worthwhile time as, together with national believers, we travel to help these refugees, continue friendship with them, take meetings in the camps and bring encouragement into the lives of these friends who have suffered so much.

We will buy most of the supplies that we need for the refugees in Serbia itself. Any gifts that we receive for the refugees are always used in their entirety inside Serbia for the refugees.

“A Taste of Mission” – an adventure with a purpose

This is a Taste of Mission Expedition. On the edge of Belgrade, we stay in the Oak Hall Bible College or in local homes. We will stay in homes and local buildings in the southern city of Nis and during our time in Croatia and Bosnia. As a team we will all be very engaged in the whole expedition whether we are coming to smile, shake hands, speak, sing or shift loads. As you would expect with a venture of this kind, there are always uncertainties and we need to be prepared for the unexpected. It will be a very worthwhile adventure!
