Relax in a comfortable hotel

Explore the delights of Barcelona and Montserrat

An ideal setting

We stay in a beautiful location on the Mediterranean coastline. You can bask in the sunshine on the sandy beach and swim in the warm, clear waters of the Mediterranean. If you're feeling more active, there is so much to do - hire boats, play volleyball, explore the shops.

In May we stay at a three-star hotel in Calella and in October we stay at the four-star Hotel Stella in Pineda de Mar. Both hotels have an outdoor pool. The hotel restaurant usually opens at 19:30 in Spain, so we may have our evening meeting before the meal.

You can choose to travel by air or by coach. The coach leaves on Friday evening, to arrive in Spain on the same day as the flight option. It leaves Spain the following Friday, to arrive back in the UK the same day as the flight option.

Exploring the local landscapes

Our optional package of three excursions takes us to explore the highlights of the area - Barcelona, Montserrat and Girona with Tossa de Mar.

In Girona, a walk along the old city walls provides an excellent view, while the shops below have lots of interesting items to browse. The river sweeps through the town, just as it did when it brought prosperity in Roman times.

When the Romans captured Tossa de Mar it was already a city full of history. Attractive backstreets provide an interesting area to explore and the medieval fortifications that still enclose the old town offer stunning views over the sandy beach.

A world-class city

We visit Barcelona, one of the Mediterranean’s most important cities. It is packed with interest and sizzles with creativity. The art nouveau buildings created by Gaudi are astonishing, especially his unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia.

La Rambla is the most famous pedestrian precinct in Spain and is alive at all hours of the day and night - the shops, street vendors, cafés and street acts provide the entertainment.

Together with the beach, museums, parks and waterfront entertainment, you are sure to find something to do in Barcelona!

Dramatic scenery at Montserrat

We drive through arid, desert-like scenery on our third excursion as the coach climbs to the ancient Benedictine monastery of Montserrat. The scenery has natural beauty, high amongst the mountains with spectacular views. The monastery has many treasures to see and the mountains provide stunning walks and cable car rides.

We meet each evening for a helpful Bible talk and a time of singing.

With the wide, sandy beaches and the attractive towns, this is a winner in every way!

"It’s so lovely being with like-minded people of all ages and from different walks of life!"

Independent Travel

You can select to travel independently during the booking process (NB we are unable to book one way flights or change the date of travel).

Please book on to the flight option (code SA). Click on 'View/Book' above to see the independent discount and the cost for the optional airport transfer.

It may be helpful to note that the independent travel option is more expensive than the coach option, as it includes an extra night at the hotel.

The airport transfer is booked to coincide with the group flights. Please note that the driver would not be able to wait if you miss the transfer.

If you are travelling independently but someone else in your party will use the group flights, please make separate bookings.

If there are any changes to the holiday, we would not be able to cover the cost of changes to your independent flights. We would therefore recommend booking fully flexible tickets or joining the holiday using our flights.
