Clear air, deep blue lakes and spring flowers

Springtime is a beautiful season in the Alps. The Alpine flowers burst into life as the snows recede, revealing spring crocuses and the magnificent blue gentians.

We connect with nature, staying in the heights of Tannenboden. Our chalet overlooks impressive views of the Churfirsten range of mountains. In the deep valley below there is the Walensee – a blue lake with traditional villages nestling along the shoreline.

A relaxing lake cruise on Lake Walensee

We are visiting the Heidland area in between the busy winter and summer seasons. It is a more peaceful time to enjoy the mountains. The local staff who mark out the walking paths or run the cable car and restaurants etc take their holidays at this time of year. As part of our optional excursion package, on five of the six full days of our stay, our coach will therefore take us to explore a different location with a range of activities on offer. We then return to our accommodation to enjoy its spectacular location.

On one of these excursions, our boat cruise, relaxing with coffee and cake is very special in the hamlet of Quinten. The village can only be reached by boat and this is where a Mediterranean micro climate encourages figs and kiwis to thrive.

Bad Ragaz and three countries

Bad Ragaz is an attractive spa town where we can explore the interesting shops and cafés or enjoy a walk through the stunning gorge nearby.

We visit locations in three countries for our excursion package. Vaduz is the capital of the tiny principality of Liechtenstein. We also explore the ancient city of Feldkirch in Austria, as well as Rapperswil in Switzerland, with its beautiful lakefront walks and castle.

A visit to the interesting town of Chur (with a cable car into the mountains) completes the optional excursion package.

"A well-balanced holiday with loads of fun, downtime and affordable access to a stunning place. A lovely time of year to see the area."

A beautiful region

In Heidiland there’s the spray and breathtaking experience of the roaring river thundering through the Tamina Gorge.

On our journey home, after leaving the accommodation we will some time visiting Zurich, for a chance to explore another interesting part of Switzerland.

Comfortable accommodation

The Oak Hall team will be providing us with three meals a day. We invite you to join in the fun and teamwork to assist with laying the tables, for example, on one day of the holiday, making our time in Switzerland remarkably affordable.

Our accommodation has a range of different sizes and styles of room. Some rooms have individual beds, others have bunk beds or mattresses on a mezzanine floor accessed by a ladder. Rooms for two, three or four people are available. Showers and toilets are located on each floor. A limited number of en-suite rooms for two are available at a supplement of £98 per person.

We have exclusive use of our mountain centre accommodation and we meet each evening to hear a helpful Bible talk.
