Aletsch Arena – new for 2026!

The Aletsch Arena is an exciting and welcoming ski area in the heart of the Swiss Alps. With breathtaking views, uncrowded pistes, and a relaxed pace, it’s an ideal place for skiers of all abilities—from complete beginners to seasoned experts.

Ski-in, ski-out accommodation from our home in the gondola station

We’ll be staying in Ferienhaus Seilbahn, an incredibly well-located mountain centre built directly into the top station of the Bettmeralp gondola. That’s right—our accommodation is part of the actual gondola station building! The moment you step out of the gondola, you’ve arrived. With mountain-centre-style bunk rooms for four, this unique location offers unbeatable ski-in, ski-out access, making it easy to head straight onto the slopes each morning and return effortlessly throughout the day.

Bettmeralp’s central setting also means we’re just a short walk from the village lifts, ski school meeting points, and beginner areas—there’s no need for buses or long treks.

Something for everyone across the mountains

With 104 km of prepared pistes and three interconnected villages—Bettmeralp, Riederalp, and Fiescheralp—the Aletsch Arena offers an impressive variety of skiing for every level. From wide, rolling beginner slopes to scenic cruisers and more technical descents, the region’s layout makes it easy to explore the mountain at your own pace. Well-connected lift systems and clearly marked trails mean skiers can travel between villages throughout the day, enjoying ever-changing views of the surrounding Alps and the stunning Aletsch Glacier. Whether you're looking for a relaxed route with friends or a new challenge each morning, there's plenty here to keep every skier inspired and engaged.

Challenging slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers

For those with more experience, the Aletsch Arena offers a variety of terrain to explore. Approximately 50% of the resort's pistes are red runs, providing intermediate skiers with ample opportunities to refine their skills on well-groomed trails that traverse the scenic alpine landscape.

Advanced skiers can test their abilities on the resort's black runs, particularly those descending from the Eggishorn and Bettmerhorn areas. These slopes offer steeper gradients and more challenging conditions, suitable for seasoned skiers seeking to push their limits.

Additionally, the Aletsch Arena provides some off-piste and freeride opportunities, especially around the Eggishorn, where skiers can find powder stashes and varied terrain. While not extensive, these areas offer a taste of adventure for those looking to venture beyond the marked trails.

Excellent terrain for new skiers

This resort is also one of the best places in the Alps for those just starting out. Around 40% of the resort’s 104 km of pistes are gentle blue runs, offering a wide choice of easy routes across the whole mountain. These wide-open slopes are ideal for practising turns, building confidence, and enjoying scenic skiing with others in the group.

For those who are completely new to skiing, Bettmeralp has several beginner zones and practice lifts located close to the centre of the village. Everything is arranged to make those first few days on skis feel safe and manageable.

A fun and friendly resort

One of the highlights of the beginner area is the Gletschi Family Funslope, designed with less experienced skiers in mind. It features a fun mix of small rollers, banked turns, a snow tunnel, and even a speed booster—perfect for learning while having fun.

The layout of the resort means you can travel between the three main villages using easy, well-marked routes. There’s no need to tackle steeper terrain in order to explore. This gives beginners a real sense of freedom and adventure as they get to know the mountain.

Safe, scenic, and stress-free

All three villages in the Aletsch Arena are car-free, creating a calm and safe environment that’s especially appreciated by families and those learning to ski. With the lifts and slopes right on our doorstep, the whole experience feels simple and smooth.

Winding down, looking up

Each evening, after a day out on the slopes, we get together for a short, engaging Bible talk led by a member of the Oak Hall team. These times offer space to pause, reflect, and explore the Christian faith together in a relaxed and accessible way. Whether you're someone who’s been a Christian for many years or just curious to listen in, these evening sessions are a valued part of the Oak Hall experience—thought-provoking, welcoming, and rooted in the reality of everyday life. Afterwards, there’s time to unwind with hot drinks and a range of optional activities, from fondue nights to games and relaxed conversations.
