A five minute walk from our hotel front door takes us to Colomion-Les Arnauds where we ride lifts to a highest point of 2400m. With trails snaking elegantly between trees, there is plenty of capacity in this resort during the week - usually resulting in short or non-existent queues and the opportunity for plenty of miles to be covered!
From Colomion-Les Arnauds, we ski to the sister resort of Melezet. This area was made famous by the Turin Winter Olympic freestyle events held at the Melezet snowpark with its world renowned Olympic halfpipe. As well as great runs for beginners and intermediates, for the adventurous there are some steeper challenges and off-piste towards the summit. With numerous trails linking Melezet and Colomion-Les Arnauds, this area would be sufficient for many of us for a week's skiing - but there is even more!
All three of these areas are covered by our ski pass. In total, from Bardonecchia, we've access to 20 ski lifts and 100kms of runs (5 black, 18 red and 16 blue) as well as the famous exciting snowpark - a fantastic array of runs and trails.
Back in Bardonecchia, where the old part of the town is car-free, cafés and gelateria await with plenty of classic coffee and ice cream. Characterised by a warm traditional Italian welcome, easy strolls and peaceful mountain air...
